Cambodia a destination of investment

Cambodia has emerged as a powerhouse in Asia's economic landscape, consistently delivering impressive growth. Although the country has faced the challenges posed by the Covid-19 crisis, there is now an optimistic anticipation of a swift rebound to the exceptional levels of growth witnessed before the pandemic.

One of Cambodia's key strengths lies in its labor protection system, which ensures the welfare of its workforce. Despite the steady rise in wages due to the country's economic progress, Cambodia remains highly competitive within the region. In response to global trade uncertainties, the government has implemented various measures to mitigate production and supply costs, as well as incentivize greater foreign investment.

Over the years, Cambodia's real estate market has been on the rise, making a significant contribution to the country's booming economy. As a result, Cambodia is regarded as a real estate investor's paradise, attracting numerous foreign investors seeking opportunities in this lucrative sector. Additionally, the country has also become a preferred destination for global companies looking to establish their operations.

Political Stability

Cambodia's government is working to make the country politically stable. Members of parliament and national institutions are collaborating to develop the economy, making Cambodia one of Asia's fastest-growing economies. Here, people can enjoy all sorts of private and public sector amenities.

Growing GDP

A good real estate market requires a robust economy. And that’s where Cambodia is going ahead. The Asian Development Bank forecasts that Cambodia’s GDP growth will be 5.5% in 2023 and rose to 6.0% in 2024. It ranked one of the fastest economies among the countries of Southeast Asia.

Rising Land Price

Since 2010, Cambodia's real estate market has experienced substantial growth, with prices of buildings and land rising constantly, particularly in Phnom Penh. This has attracted foreign investors seeking to capitalize on the booming market.

Dollarized Economy

Cambodia's official currency is the Khmer Riel (KHR), introduced since 1980. The country's economy is classified as dollarized, meaning that the United States dollar is widely accepted alongside the national currency. In fact, approximately 80% of deposits and credits in the banking system are conducted in US dollars (US$).

Strategic Location

Location is important when it comes to real estate investment. The strategic positioning of this country has transformed it into an attractive destination for international investors. Cambodia shares its borders with rapidly developing economy like Vietnam and Thailand, both on land and sea. This country is also in close proximity to two of the world's fastest-growing economies, China and India.

Improved Infrastructure

In Cambodia, significant improvement has been made to the essential roadways and bridges that connect with neighboring countries. The rail system has undergone substantial upgrade. The government is also working with China to expand and modernize the seaport, while boasting the presence of three international airports within the country's borders.

Presence of International Groups

Cambodia has become a thriving investment hub for a number of large real estate companies. It has also enticed several prominent international schools to establish a presence in Phnom Penh, further solidifying its position as a growing destination. Notably, Cambodia holds membership in both the WTO and ASEAN, and is actively involved in the 'One Belt One Road Project'.

Investment Attraction

As reported by Bloomberg, China's enthusiasm for investing in Cambodian real estate is growing. Numerous real estate firms from various nations are actively participating in Cambodian property investments. In 2018, China poured an impressive $7 billion into the country, financing a multitude of innovative projects and the construction of a new highway.

Growing Tourism

Cambodia has ambitions for its tourism plan, with the government working to make the country a magnet for tourists. In Phnom Penh, you will find an abundance of charming boutique villas to stay. The country has set its sights on welcoming 12 million tourists by 2025, with the hope that this influx of visitors will also lead to increased interest in the local real estate market.
